Visual Scales and Arpeggios Reference Guide
Note that the finger numbers on the diagrams do not represent the position on the key where the finger should press; the student should use the key depth and move in and out of the black key area as needed for their hands.
Arpeggios have been represented with 3rd finger and 4th finger choices. In recent times many pedagogues and expert pianists have recognized that a player’s hands are unique to the individual and are incompatible with rigid 4th and 3rd rules. The player should determine for themselves which fingering gives their hand the most balance and control in the arpeggios.

Directional Note Reading Cards for Beginner Music Students (cards 001-040)
Digital download with studio licence (unlimited print and use with your own students).
This set of cards for beginner stave readers includes 20 individual cards which can be inverted to make 40 different note patterns.
Each A4 page can be cut into quarters to make each card 105mm by 148.5mm.
The set begins with simple stepping and repeating note patterns (cards number 001-016) and then patterns including skips and steps (cards number 017-040).
No clefs are placed, meaning the note can be any letter the teacher chooses. The teacher should visualize for themselves the four notes, and then tell the student a starting letter and finger number for either RH or LH. Ensure that the student can play the pattern within a 5 finger note range. After the student has correctly played the notes, then the teacher can turn the card upside-down, and the student can attempt the inverted version.
The cards can be completed in numerical order or shuffled into a random order once the student is more confident.
