Skip and Step Reading Cards for beginner stave readers. Features 16 step cards and 16 skip cards as well as 4 labels: step, skip, up and down. 6 cards per A4 page.
Each A4 page can be cut into half long ways at 105mm and into 99mm thirds to make six cards per page (each 105mm x 99mm).
Teachers can use the cards in the following ways:
- Separate the stave step cards and ask students to sort them into going “up” or “down” using the labelled cards as headings.
- Students sort a shuffled stack of stave step and skip cards into two piles using the labelled “skip” and “step” cards as headings.
- Students could be timed with a stopwatch to see how fast they can sort all the cards. Keep a record of their “Personal Best” (PB) for fun and to track improvement.
- Separate the stave skip cards and ask students to sort them into going “up” or “down” using the labelled cards as headings.
- Give the student a selection of a few cards and ask them to choose one that fits a given description. (e.g. “Find a card that is stepping up”, “Find a card that is skipping down”)
